Sormiou Cove is a cove on the Mediterranean coast between Marseille and Cassis. It is part of the Calanques massif and, more generally, the Calanques National Park.
This cove is framed by two peninsulas formed to the southwest by the “Sormiou ridge” and to the northeast by the “Morgiou ridge” which separates it from the Morgiou cove.
Near the cove, there are three islands: Riou, Plane and Jaïre.
The Sormiou cove is one of the most popular coves for the people of Marseille. It is accessible by vehicle outside the summer season, via La Cayolle; it can be accessed on foot from Les Baumettes via paths.
The Sormiou cove is one of the few inhabited coves (around a hundred cabins) and has a small port protected by a dike. Cabins are passed down from generation to generation.
