Port-Cros Island is one of the three islands of Hyères, a coastal archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, in the Var department and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. It is located 1.1 km west of Levant Island and 8.3 km south of Cap Bénat, a rocky point on the Bormes-les-Mimosas coastline. The island is part of the commune of Hyères. 4.2 km long and 2.4 km wide at its widest point, its highest point is 199 meters above sea level, the highest point in the archipelago. The presence of springs explains the richness of its vegetation.

The Port-Cros National Park, the first European maritime park, was created on December 14, 1963.
