At the beginning of the 20th century, a small jetty was in place at the current site of Miramar port. Port projects were under study as early as 1914. The port was not built until 1951. The body of water then covered 8,000 m² and was protected by two breakwaters: one to the west and a second to the east, located in the extension of the Maravenne watercourse, which corresponds to the first part of the current eastern breakwater. Around 1981, the eastern breakwater was lengthened from 200 to 250 m to protect the port entrance channel and create the location of the future harbor master's office. From 1990, work began to expand the port. The western breakwater was converted into a jetty and 6 others were built. The surface area of the body of water was more than doubled thanks to the construction of the new western breakwater. The eastern breakwater was further extended by 110 m to protect the new port entrance channel. The central reservation, called the port square, was developed in the 1990s, as was the harbor master's office on the eastern breakwater.
