" THE Castle " or formerly " Villa Louise" is located Gabriel Péri quay in the heart from Lavandou. She was built on there beach , at a few meters of the old pier , and was completed in 1881 after forty years of works. Its owner of the time, Mr. Honorati, a rich herbalist from Toulon (it's him Who has introduced persimmon in France), often sailed from Lavandou to Port Cros to there research of medicinal plants . Large traveler , he was inspired of style architectural centenary inherited from Lavandou from the banks of the lake of Guard , who contrast with the architecture of our Provence. The stone comes from Turis and some walls don't have less 80 centimeters thick. A terrace was added and completed in 1930. At the beginning of the century, " Le Château " became a guest house , then during the war in 1940 took the name "La Villa Louise" which accommodated nuns . Due to road and port works , it is further from the sea than when it was built. It symbolizes the town of Le Lavandou well; it can be found on many old postcards . In 2007 , the castle became the " Maison du Lavandou" and houses various municipal services .
